To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Governance Risk Manager to join our team. The Sr. WHS Governance Risk Manager will serve as a principle SME for the management of interactions and communication with Federal, State, Provincial and Municipal Health and Safety Regulatory Agencies in the US and Canada. The role is also responsible for providing case management support with Municipal Fire and Life Safety agencies. The Sr. WHS Governance Risk Manager will also be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of internal procedures to ensure compliance with new and existing health and safety statutory requirements and regulations.
The Sr. Governance Risk Manager will draft, review and edit regulatory response correspondence and associated documentation for submission to regulatory agencies ensuring adequate technical and substantive content, quality, clarity, and timeliness. The role will also serve to develop awareness and competency in regulatory compliance and management of regulatory interactions across all Amazon Operations business units with the objective of enhancing relationships, building mutual trust, and promoting Amazon’s world class safety program with these entities.
Additional responsibilities would involve assisting in developing and implementing standard work tasks performed by the NA Governance team. This includes, identifying opportunities to improve process efficiency and compliance effectiveness through process verification and validation plans, developing process flow diagrams that describe critical process interdependencies with respect to process inputs, outputs, risks and impacts, Using data to identify trends related to regulatory interactions, monitoring performance of business units against applicable regulatory compliance requirements and internal Amazon standards, benchmarking organization performance on regulatory compliance and interaction management.
The role will need to engage, collaborate, and partner with Amazon business teams and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) in WHS and other corporate support teams including, but not limited to External Affairs, Legal, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Business Intelligence, and Procurement). The incumbent will assist in defining the WHS Governance strategy and establishing scalable and reliable actions for managing WHS legal compliance in different jurisdictions across North America.

- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's Degree- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
