This position is available in: London or Dublin.
As part of AWS’ EMEA Energy & Water team, the AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) is looking for a results-oriented individual to join in the role of Energy Projects Manager. This role owns the end-to-end power scaling strategy for a number of countries within the EMEA footprint. The role’s scope extends to analyzing, developing and implementing strategies on how we interconnect our data centers and how we can scale our business across the power grids on which we depend. The ultimate deliverable of the role is to ensure that access to secure, resilient and scalable power is maintained across the 2-3 countries you will have responsibility for so as not to constrain AWS business growth for our customers.
With a proven track record in the power/energy sector, complemented by a robust project management skillset, you will own the origination and contracting of power capacity in partnership with regional experts. This will see you look round corners in anticipation of risks and barriers to growth, deep diving the quality of the power system and the underpinning generation and developing tactical solutions and strategic proposals to navigate constraints in terms of access to power. By delivering on the strategies you develop, you will enable scalable future growth to support the expansion of AWS Cloud, enabling our customers to innovate faster.
In conjunction with partner teams, the successful candidate will cultivate business and technical relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including grid and electricity utilities, regulators and policymakers to ensure that power can be secured in a timely and economic manner to support AWS’s EMEA infrastructure expansion.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities

• You will identify and develop cost saving projects and initiatives related to grid and network infrastructure
• You will collaborate with electricity utilities and other external stakeholders to develop strategies that support AWS’s expansion in EMEA
• You will work with AWS’s Public Policy team to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives
A day in the life
