Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our expanding finance team in the UK. You will be a key member of the team, performing a range of finance activities in the context of an expanding and diversifying trading firm.

What you’ll do:

Key aspects of the role will include:

Financial control:

  • Overseeing and coordinating financial reporting processes, in particular some of the month-end close process for multiple entities
  • Understanding and controlling the reporting of trading assets and liabilities 
  • Reviewing complex expense and profit sharing allocations between entities and business units 

Financial reporting:

  • Helping to manage the preparation of annual financial statements and audit-related deliverables, liaising with our external auditors as required 

Project work:

Opportunity and encouragement to have an active role in various global and regional initiatives eg:

  • Technology transformations to ensure initiatives and processes are best practice and fit for purpose such as ledger harmonization and transfer pricing automation
  • Understanding and developing an approach to ESG reporting, including identifying and preparing public disclosures
  • Collaborating with other functions and the business on the changing regulatory landscape, and analysing the impact of Optiver's evolving business  

Who you are:

You will need the following skills:

  • Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • 5 years+ post-qualified experience, preferably within the financial services industry 
  • Experience of working in a finance team, and managing a broad range of finance activities/initiatives
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements 
  • Experience of the UK regulatory regime (IFPR), and experience of regulatory reporting is not required but would be beneficial
  • Proficient in Excel
