Job Description:

The Team

Our engineering teams are responsible for designing and implementing proprietary systems and tools that drive the quantitative strategy research and implementation that powers AQR. Our development teams are small, motivated, and highly productive. Collaborating side-by-side with researchers and portfolio analysts, you will become intimately familiar with the investment philosophy which drives AQR.

Your Role

 The role is a Vice President in Enterprise Engineering space. The Enterprise Engineering team is responsible for design and development of foundational software infrastructure utilized by applications throughout AQR. You will be leading the team working on multiple different systems, some of which includes:

• Firmwide Data Platform
• Data services for multiple business areas
• Firmwide PNL System
• External Market Data
• Internal Reference Data

You will also help lead the effort to build and maintain common development tools and libraries that are implemented in Java, C#, Python and Go. The team also collaborates with other teams to help them re-architect their applications and modernize their tech stack. We work on multiple interesting technologies and are quick in adopting latest technologies when it fits our use case. Most of our infrastructure, services and applications are running on AWS cloud. We also focus on non-functional aspects to ensure our services are highly reliable, performant, and scalable.

You will be expected to provide architecture and implementation approach guidance to the developers, lead projects as well as code. As part of your job, you will collaborate with many AQR teams including Business Development, Operations, Portfolio Implementation, Research, and others. You will learn firsthand about platforms and processes that run AQR, one of the largest quantitative investment firms in the world.

As an architect and a hands-on contributor, you will be leading projects, conducting architecture and implementation reviews, and liaising with global and local stakeholders.

As a lead you will be responsible for driving collaboration among your direct reports and ensure that they are motivated and productive.

For the above roles you will be working closely with various onshore counterparts.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor/ master’s in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline
• 8+ Years of relevant work experience
• Very Strong experience in Java ecosystem
• Experience building large scale, concurrent, and scalable systems
• Experience managing a team and a portfolio of development projects in a remote environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders and counterparts across the globe.
• Desire to work in the finance domain (no finance experience required but it’s a plus)
• Outstanding coding, debugging, and analytical skills
• Exposure to python or other languages is a plus
• Experience in UI, specifically with Angular is a plus
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL Databases is a plus
• Familiarity with AWS is a plus
