Job Description

As the Director of Product for Patient Registry, you will oversee the entire Product Management lifecycle for one of ESO’s flagship products, Patient Registry. Patient Registry is a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application that was launched in January 2024, with initial focus on the Trauma Registry space. This product was conceived as a greenfield build to replace several Legacy applications owned and maintained by ESO, in varying stages of an active End-of-Life (EOL) motion.

Patient Registry is used by hospitals across the US to create, maintain, validate and submit specialised electronic medical records for Trauma patients. Ensuring that they follow the specific guidelines by national, state and regional accreditation bodies. In addition to its critical role in helping trauma centers maintain their Trauma designation, accreditation status and compliance with regulations, Patient Registry is also heavily used for Performance Improvement and research, in line with ESO’s mission to improve community health & safety through the power of data.

What does success look like in this role?

  • Stabilise the predictability and velocity of software delivery together with your Engineering counterparts and teams, and restore a healthy balance between different classifications of R&D work (e.g., Regulatory, Maintenance, Support-Escalated Defects, Minor Enhancements, Strategic Roadmap, Tech Roadmap, Innovation & Discovery)
  • Grow Annual Recurring Revenue from ~$4M to $25M+ within the next 3 years (this might sound steep but is entirely feasible, considering that ESO is currently the market leader and holds $14M in Legacy Registry ARR, with considerable revenue uplift potential)
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment with Sales, Onboarding, Customer Success, Onboarding, Engineering and the Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) to facilitate a smooth customer experience especially for migrating customers, and healthy retention (standard expectation for an ESO Flagship product is 96% annualized Gross Retention Rate)
  • Develop your direct and indirect reports into world class product management professionals. This includes investing in coaching high-potential entry-level employees and developing them into product leaders, effectively managing the performance enablement process, role modeling functional excellence, and applying ESO product management best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the Product Roadmap process, considering the needs of existing Patient Registry customers, migrating Legacy Registry customers, sales prospects and Regulators / Industry Stakeholders
  • Ensure that there is consistent and well-documented alignment on roadmap priorities in every planning horizon (Sprint, Program Increment, Quarter, Year), and communicate updates to these priorities effectively across all stakeholders
  • Align with your Engineering counterparts so that the roadmap priorities always translate into clear requirements backed by solid discovery to ensure maximum flow and velocity, and minimal rework / context-switching
  • Manage a diverse team of 10 (2 Product Managers, 3 Product Owners, 5 Associate Product Owners) across Northern Ireland and the US, ensure that each of them is focused on the right priorities that yield the highest return on investment for ESO
  • Collaborate with your Product Managers and cross-functional counterparts to maintain, update and expand the Roadmap fact base that serves as the foundation for a data-informed product roadmap, including product insights (product analytics), customer insights (customer feedback, sentiment, support trends, churn analysis), market insights (compliance and other trends), competitive insights (win/loss analysis, competitive intel) and internal execution insights (sprint/PI delivery retrospectives, Product P&L analysis)
  • Actively participate in Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings, including Quarterly Business Reviews, weekly Product SLT meetings and monthly ESO-wide SLT meetings.
  • Infrequent/occasional travel to industry conferences, customers and ESO offices

Essential Criteria:

  • 5+ years Product Management experience, familiar with full product management lifecycle (ideation, discovery, build, ship, launch, scale, mature, ideally all the way to sunset/EOL)
  • An experienced people manager who can effectively performance manage a diverse team, ideally with experience managing managers & skip-level reports
  • Track record of predictable delivery of complex multi-team efforts and effective collaboration with Engineering leaders
  • Strong communicator, with emphasis on ensuring clarity and alignment in an environment where requirements and priorities can sometimes change with short notice
  • Experience in B2B/Enterprise SaaS, incl. collaborating cross-functionality with sales, onboarding, support, and other customer-facing functions
  • Healthcare or clinical experience is not a must, in the absence of that experience you will need to be a fast learner with strong intellectual curiosity & willingness to dive in head-first
Benefits & Perks! You will have fantastic benefits at ESO including but not limited to;
  • Life insurance (4 x base salary)
  • Income protection insurance
  • A generous pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance including optical and dental
  • A health cash plan
  • Modern City Centre office and a flexible hybrid working policy
  • Annual health and wellness allowance + cycle-to-work scheme
  • Enhanced paternity leave and pay, enhanced adoptive pay, enhanced maternity pay
  • Enhanced short and long-term sick pay
  • Great holiday entitlement which increases year on year until you reach 5 years of service!
