Job Description

About Bitvavo

In 2018, Bitvavo launched the first version of its digital assets trading platform, to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. By offering transparent fees, a wide range of assets and an easy to use platform, Bitvavo is making the currency of the future accessible for everyone.

In two years' time, Bitvavo has established itself as the market leader in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe, with over one million users exchanging tens of billions of digital assets a year.

Our team, located in Amsterdam, is looking for self-driven, talented people who can help make digital assets available for everyone.

What is the role about?

At Bitvavo, we are seeking a talented and seasoned Senior Product Designer, a user-centred design champion to join our skilful User Experience team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of one of our product verticals, collaborating with a large cross-functional team, and expected to deliver intuitive and visually compelling experiences that engage and delight our users.

Crypto is packed with complexity, so we are looking for a good problem solver, someone who is able to conjure and deliver powerful solutions with maximum simplicity. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge blockchain technologies at one of Europe’s most successful exchanges, helping us shape product strategy and contributing to our goal of being market leaders in Europe.

How will you make an impact?

  • Lead initiatives and projects end-to-end, from conceptualisation to implementation, ensuring high-quality and consistent user experiences across all our (mobile and web) products.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional peers to understand our user’s needs, business goals, technical constraints, and translate these into effective design solutions.
  • Help facilitate discovery in your product area and gather feedback to inform your design decisions, validate your assumptions, and iterate on your designs. Work closely with research and have both some theoretical and practical experience.
  • Comfortable navigating open ended problems, working with large scopes and managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Work with low and high-fidelity designs to effectively communicate your solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies in the crypto and blockchain space, and leverage that knowledge to drive innovation and differentiate our products.
  • Use your experience to add value to the team by mentoring, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture within the team.

How will you be successful?

  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a product designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in designing complex and detailed web and mobile experiences.
  • You have experience in working in a trading company and / or have been a trader yourself for at least a couple of years.
  • Solid understanding of user-centred design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
  • A solid and scalable design process, which you should be able to prove through case studies.
  • High proficiency in Figma. You should be up to date with everything this tool can do for your workflow and that of the team.
  • You are remarkably attentive to detail and your visual design (UI) skills are top notch.
  • Experience with prototyping. We like to interact with our experiences as we work on them, and understand clearly your thinking of how users will interact with your solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively present and articulate design decisions to stakeholders at various levels. You’ll often present your work to the Head of UX and CPO.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • You’ve worked with data and understand the value of insights in informing your design decisions. You’ve collaborated with researchers and data analysts in the past.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies or financial products is preferred.
  • Practical experience in user research methodologies is preferred.
  • Studies in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field is preferred.
