Job Description

About Bitvavo

In 2018, Bitvavo launched the first version of its digital assets trading platform, to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. By offering transparent fees, a wide range of assets and an easy to use platform, Bitvavo is making the currency of the future accessible for everyone.

In two years' time, Bitvavo has established itself as the market leader in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe, with over one million users exchanging tens of billions of digital assets a year.

Our team, located in Amsterdam, is looking for self-driven, talented people who can help make digital assets available for everyone.

What is the role about?

We are an exchange. System scalability, performance and engineering productivity matters in everything that we do. Our platform domain is committed to fostering autonomy by offering engineering teams paved paths to develop robust, secure, compliant and scalable systems. We're seeking exceptional talent to join us in making this a reality.

How will you make an impact?

  • Empower teams to build scalable systems with strict requirements on latency, availability, and/or throughput.
  • Team up with engineering teams to understand their pain points and work backward to craft the right solution.
  • Enable teams to fully own their systems by providing them with the capabilities to seamlessly deploy and closely observe their applications.
  • Leverage infrastructure as code and automation to build reproducible systems that are consistent across multiple environments.
  • Support your teammates in growing every day by providing them with constructive feedback, guidance, and sharing knowledge.

How will you be successful?

  • Experience with one or more programming languages. We mostly use Python, Kotlin and Go.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals in distributed systems, systems engineering and networking.
  • Fluency in leveraging infrastructure as code and automation. We use tools such as Terraform to build reproducible systems that are consistent across multiple environments.
  • Proficiency in container orchestration within a cloud-first environment. We operate entirely on the Cloud, using Kubernetes as our orchestration tool.
  • Exceptional communication skills. We expect engineers to talk to various stakeholders to derive requirements, drive discussions, and facilitate decision-making processes effectively.
  • Extraordinary sense of ownership. We are committed to empowering engineers with freedom and accountability.

We're far more interested in your capabilities as an engineer rather than in your specific knowledge of a certain tool and/or technology. Not sure if you tick all the boxes? Let's talk.
