Job Description
This position will advise the business and senior leadership on strategic matters, be responsible for competition-related regulatory matters in the UK, and help shape the company’s long-term strategy on highly relevant and novel issues.
Key Responsibilities
· Drive regulatory competition matters focusing primarily on the UK, including integrated partnership with the local legal team.
· Advise the business and legal colleagues on competition-related matters across all Amazon businesses.
· Help shape the company’s long-term strategy on high impact and often novel issues.
· Think Big and look around corners to spot issues and identify developments of relevance for the Amazon business.
· Partner with our public policy team and engage with regulators and policy makers on a broad range of issues.
· Contribute as a member of the EU Competition team to develop mechanisms for training, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
The role is based in London, some travel will be required.
We are looking for candidates who are innovative, progressive, extremely hands-on, and highly customer-obsessed professionals. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily business.- Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic and legal qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in UK and EU competition law
- Experience in independently managing competition related regulatory matters, with deep demonstrated experience in the UK.
- Experience independently managing a large number and variety of mission-critical projects and meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.- Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- A team player and consensus builder with great people skills and a good sense of humor who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with lawyers and business clients at all levels throughout the organization
