Job Description

Who we are

📌 Skip builds great products that help developers deliver best-in-class blockchain applications to their users more easily. We’re dedicated to making all blockchains more accessible and more powerful so everyone can participate in the trustless web without limits.

We work with the best teams building blockchains in crypto: dYdX, Celestia, Osmosis, Neutron/LIDO, and many more. Our products help developers secure, swap, and transfer millions of dollars of tokens every day.

We’re a Series A company based in NYC, and we’re looking to finish building out our core team.

We focus on hiring the core team and senior talent to work together in person in NYC to build a collaborative and supportive culture. But we’re still open to hiring best-in-class remote talent anywhere within 6 hours of the NYC timezone.

Skip is committed to inclusion.

Skip is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourages individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. We believe the purpose of crypto is to expand who has agency in society, which starts at home, by empowering people with diverse gender identities, ethnic backgrounds, and life experiences within our own organization. Skip offers dedicated mentorship to support personal growth and a bright career in crypto.

Core team member responsibilities

  1. Work to solve hard technical problems at the cutting edge of blockchain research alongside the founders.
  2. Be empowered to make bold technical and strategic decisions.
  3. Play a critical role in determining the people we hire, our culture, our engineering practices, and the products we ship.

How we work

  1. We value ambition, work ethic, and m (slope) over prestige, accomplishments, and y-intercept.
  2. We value thoughtful and contentious dialogue over siloed and unilateral decision-making.
  3. We value acknowledging uncertainty/weakness and seeking support over unabated confidence and solo performances.
  4. We’re obsessive about documenting everything, learning, and shipping as fast as possible.

Benefits

🏋️ Fitness stipend

✈️ 18 days of paid leave

🧑‍⚕️ Premium health insurance

🏦 Competitive regional compensation and above-market equity ownership

📁 Office space and accommodations for remote work

👉 We’re open to arranging paid work trials with potential hires because we think interviews give a very limited view of candidates and the company.

Description

We’re looking for an Intermediate to Senior DevOps Engineer / SRE who will help our engineers scale our products and developer productivity significantly.

Our ideal candidate cares and thinks deeply about every aspect of the systems they build, but is also pragmatic about getting the job done. They should be deeply product-oriented and think about our engineering team as her customers (the Skip engineers). They should put the same level of care into customer support (e.g. education, documentation, answering questions) that they put into writing useful automations. Additionally, they’re a great communicator and can easily explain why the tools they build are useful and how to use them.

Role

  • Design and own the pipelines that automate building, testing, and deployment of Skip’s cloud infrastructure
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop automated testing and deployment pipelines for services that power Skip’s products
  • Maintain and improve Skip’s internal developer platform
  • Develop and manage monitoring and alerting systems to ensure Skip’s infrastructure meets availability requirements
  • Contribute to high-level strategic and technical decisions regarding the product roadmap, tech stack, and engineering practices

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 years+ experience orchestrating and managing production cloud infrastructure and pipelines
  • Expertise working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond
  • Fluency with at least one of the standard orchestration platforms (Kubernetes or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to build automated testing and deployment pipelines with modern tooling (e.g. Github Actions or similar)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g. Terraform or similar)
  • Experience with at least one common programming language (e.g. Go / Python)

Bonus

  • Understanding of or experience with crypto / blockchain infrastructure
  • Prior experience with common observability stacks (e.g. DataDog, Grafana LGTM, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux and cloud networking
  • Basic understanding of asymmetric key cryptography
