As a VP, Data Science, ML & Identity, you will be a key player in a challenging and dynamic developmental story where decisions about data, real-time auction dynamics and machine learning are core to the success of the business. This is a rich opportunity to learn from others, and there is the flexibility to dive into experiments on your own. LiveIntent Copenhagen is responsible for the development and deployment of LiveIntent's data and batch processing infrastructure, analytics and machine learning technology in close collaboration with the company's other teams in New York and Berlin.

About the Job:

As our VP, Data Science, ML & Identity you will define, execute, and lead the data science, machine learning and identity strategies and teams in line with the company vision, goals, and objectives. You will act as an advisor for senior leadership in these areas, with a special focus on how changes in the ecosystem could affect our identity strategies. You will oversee, motivate, and coach a team of leads, data scientists and engineers and build bridges between their team and the other teams in and outside the engineering department. You will participate in the creation of the department standards and processes; continuously improving best practices and you will also be expected to work closely with the other team developers and stakeholders in the company's international product division. You will be part of all stages of development, from initial sparring and exchange of ideas to prototyping, development, testing, deployment, maintenance / improvement and reporting. You will lead our development process as a loosely defined hybrid of agile methods and rapid prototyping under the headline flexibility under responsibility.

Your Profile:

  • Previous professional experience with data analysis or software development and leading a team of engineers and data scientists.
  • Interest in translating real world issues into mathematical models, mathematical statistics, and algorithms.
  • Mathematical education; such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Physics, ideally a PhD.
  • Practical experience with real programming, practical and / or deep theoretical understanding of some of the following: classical statistics (hypothesis tests, confidence intervals), data mining, ETL processing, machine learning / probabilistic graphical models (e.g. Markov logic networks or Bayesian networks), data processing in MapReduce using Spark, programming in Scala and/or Python, data reporting and ad hoc analysis in Athena, Google BigQuery or the "PyLab" suite.
  • Deep product knowledge in adtech or martech.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey intricate systems and dialectic to both technical and non-technical partners.

You attack problems analytically and solutions pragmatically. You are full of good ideas, able to see opportunities in other people's ideas, and can find out about ideas in a distanced and constructive way. You love thinking about many issues and connecting them with data. You find identifying new facets of data more important than adjusting meta parameters to algorithms. You are happy to implement and optimize and curious about new tasks.

We're looking for someone who will be excited to understand and involve themselves in the company's problem areas and can communicate in English with management and colleagues at the other LiveIntent offices. This person will be immersed in a dynamic environment where overall priorities and definitions will change over time. In this situation you will guide your team members in closing up deprioritized projects in a way that maximizes our learning with sufficient documentation that they can be picked up at a later point.
