About the opportunity

We are seeking a driven Tax Lead to join the Tax team of N26. 

Our Tax Team is responsible for all tax related matters at N26 including, withholding taxes, tax compliance, tax advisory, Transfer Pricing and risk management and believes in autonomy, pragmatic solutions and collaboration to build the bank the world loves to use. 

In this role, you will:

• Ensuring compliance with VAT and Direct Tax filing requirements in Germany in cooperation with external advisors.

• Providing / managing the provision of accurate and risk conscious tax advice to key stakeholders in restructuring, new product offerings, financing and international expansion.

• Manage the compliance with operational tax reports (FATCA, CRS within others) with the support of other team members. 

• Manage tax audits in Germany and build relationships with the German tax authorities.

• Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
   

What you need to be successful:

Background: 

• Successfully completed studies or training in the field of economics, tax or finance or a comparable qualification

• 4 + years of experience in a tax department, ideally within a startup, recognized accounting firm or other fast paced environment

• Ideally a qualified german tax advisor or in the preparation to become one

Skills: 

• Good technical knowledge of German corporate, VAT and international tax.

• Excellent communications skills and experience supporting various (non-technical) stakeholders with practical and easy to understand tax advice.

• To be highly motivated, efficient and focused on meeting targets.

• Flexible and willing to take initiative, understand business needs and find creative solutions.

• Experience with Workday as ERP (as a plus), Excel and affinity for automation. 

• Fluent in written and spoken German and English
