As one of the first joiners in the newly established Data Engineering team, you will play a key role in our company's growth, with a focus on positively impacting those around you. Our Data Engineering will be responsible for maintaining the core platform and services that enable data and analytics at Vacasa. Working closely with data science, analytics engineering and analytics teams you will play a key role in the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines; providing timely, accurate, and reliable information to all aspects of the business. 

 

As a Data Engineer, your role includes:

• Designing, implementing, and championing the tooling required for data ingress and orchestration.
• Developing DWH standards, ingress and egress patterns for production data sets.
• Collaborating with engineering and product teams to ensure prioritization of data and analytics goals.
• Troubleshooting DWH, pipeline, or data lake performance problems and bottlenecks.

 

Skills you'll need:

• 3+ years of background in software engineering, data-related field (including data engineering, DWH, BI, data visualization, and/or data science)
• Hands on experience with:
• data orchestration and ETL tools
• relational database management systems
• cloud or columnar data stores such as Redshift, Snowflake, or Hive/Presto
• supporting transformation tools such as DBT, Fivetran, or AWS Glue in production
• Ability to:
• identify, repair, and troubleshoot data quality issues
• write, understand, and optimize complex SQL
